While in Nashville many years ago, we stumbled on Fiddlers Motel and were lucky to get a room. Knowing nothing about Nashille, we walked over the the restaurant next door (The Palace Saloon, as I recall) and enjoyed the music of the great band that was there. Then to my surprise, you came on stage and sang several songs. You were great and to this day, I remember our trip because of the impression you made. Thanks for all the great songs over the years. Dear Jeannie, I would like to offer you my sincerest and heartfelt expression at grief over your friend Billy Walker. Two friends of mine in England who also knew Mr. Walker as not only a close friend but also mentor. I never knew the man myself but he seemed to be the kind who would brighten a room by his very presence. He still had his chops and, to my mind, had the most beautiful voice out of any singer at the Opry. He will certainly be missed!

Jeannie, hope you remember me. I was in Mt. Vernon to see Billy & Bettie a couple of years ago. I'm the one who took a picture of you & Bettie at your table,I sent two to Betty & she gave you one. Also if you remember, she told you i'd known Billy for almost 50 yrs. Well, wanted to let you know,i've got the Opry on tonite, and was so glad to hear you do "Funny How Time slips Awawy'. I seen Billy at a show when he had that song coming out and he sang it for me and asked how I liked it,same with "Word Games", of course you know what the answer was. Anything he sang was good.Last time I seen him was in Troy, Oh.with Helen Cornelious, and he had done Jim Reeves "He'll Have To Go" on the Opry the week before, and that was my husbands favorite, i asked him if he had it on for the show, he said no,but the third song he did was that one . He and Bettie were very special as you know. I will be among the ones missing them so much. They were like family to me too.Anytime i would e-mail Bettie, about anything she always answered me right away.I already have Billys c.d. tribute to Jimmie Rodgers, and he signed it for me, got it same day as tragic news. THANKS AGAIN, Jeannie, and will be praying for all, hope you'll be praying for me too. Also will have all families, friends, fans, Opry cast on our prayer list at church. Evelyn

Just an update on the petition supporting the Legends of the Opry - check out www.musiccitynews.com and you will find Tandy Rice's reply to all the "uproar" of his comments in the April posting. He failed to address anything but the mandatory retirement age of 65, but he did address that. I was delighted with the response on the petition - we are still getting posts. I truly hope the powers-that-be are listening and realize that without the Legends appearing regularly it would not be the GRAND OLE OPRY - it would simply be another pop-country show with a little true country thrown in.

I am sure by now many of you are aware of comments that were made by Tandy Rice, with regard to members retiring at 65 from the Grand Ole Opry. This is just one of the things that he has proposed - but seems to be the one thing that has really stirred the controversy. Without the LEGENDS we would have no Grand Ole Opry - there have been very few new members that will truly carry on the tradition of the Opry. We need the Legends who are LOYAL and appreciate what the Opry has stood for all these years - they didn't want to be a member - to simply push someone out - the wanted to be a PART of the Opry!!! Please go and sign the petition that I have put up - so far we are approaching 500 signatures - so thankfully others feel like I do - the Opry is the LEGENDS! http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/oprylegends/signatures?start=0

Dear Jeannie Tandy Rice who has a column in Music City News on line Have A Rice day has suggested that the Grand Ole Opry should retire all members 65 yrs. old or older. His comments about members 65 and older are not very good. He's hoping someone out there is reading this and start the wheels to turn. I want tom urge everyone who would like to see the older members stay read Tandy's message on www.music city news.com and click on Have A Rice Day. He also invites you to write to him with your comments and suggestions at Tandy Rice PO Box 121089 Nashville, Tennessee 37212. By the way I checked Bill's Country Music Calendar and if the information is correct Tandy was born August 16, 1938 which means he will turn 68 this August. What happened to his retirement at 65?I think he should get his own show and he can feature the artist he wants to and leave the Grand Ole Opry alone.

There are 4 women whose beautiful voices make me cry when they sing. Women who can pour heart and soul over a beautiful song like warm chocolate sauce on vanilla ice cream. One is gone forever and the other 3 just get better with time. Jeannie Seely, Patsy Cline, LeAnn Rimes and Allison Kraus. Forever a fan.

Jeannie, just thought I would say hello and see how you are doing. Do you remember hearing me sing back in April 1991 at the little club in Nashville located at the Motel with the Guitar Shaped swimming pool???? I know that had to be you that night with a couple of your friends. You told me you really liked my singing. I had a number one record in 1991 in Denmark, Belguim, Sweden, etc. I have my own publishing company called Dove Branch Music (BMI). I have the most beautiful Christmas Song I would like to send to you thru my Publishing company. I have the song on CD along with "No Other Words" (but I love you). Let me know where and if I can send you the CD. Good luck and Happy Holidays to you. You are still one of my favorite Ladies of Country Music. Thanks, John Williams, Lufkin, Texas.

Jeannie, I just wanted to say hello and let you know how much I have admired you and your music for so many years. Several years ago, you were doing a show in Pigeon Forge with Johnny Russell and Jim Ed Brown. You were UNBELIEVABLE! After the show while you were walking around greeting your fans, I ask you to sign a Get Well card to a dear friend of mine who was battling Cancer. YOu wrote such a moving piece. It was one of her most treasured pocession, and in her final days she would sho it to all who came to see her. Just wanted to let you know that you are admired and loved and you were an angel to this friend of mine! Keep up the great work and I will continue to see you at the opry every chance I get. Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your music, and love hearing you on the Opry. I love the way you interact with the audience. I was listening to some Starday material of Dottie West, and I thought of you. In a way you remind me of her. I am a huge fan of hers as well, and I wish that I could have met her. I met you when I worked at the Hall of Fame, and I remember you being one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Hope to meet you again someday. I hope that someone does a tribute to you and Dottie. Y'all don't get the credit you totally deserve. Anyways, keep up the great singing. I will be hearing you this weekend!

Jeannie: Couldn't pass up the opportunity to say "Hello". We started the Lincoln Opry here in January and it's growing so fast it's hard to keep up with. Our venue is reminiscent of the Louisnana Hayride, showcasing local talent and giving them the opportunity to be seen and heard. We hope that our efforts will pay off for them. Dear Jeannie: If I were to write what I would like to say to you, it would take up lots of space on your web-site. Therefore, I will summarize it as follows: Along with my present food business in Canada, a few years ago in the 1970’s, I owned one of the largest Country and Western clubs in Toronto, Ontario, due to the fact that I loved and still do love, Country and Western music. Each time during intermission, I requested that the Disc Jockey play your records. I not only love your music, I love your personality. I sold the restaurant/club some years ago, but I have continued to keep in touch with Country and Western music over the years. Lately, I purchased the Country and Western Family Reunion VCR tapes, and upon finally viewing all of them, I had to write to you to let you know that although you have aged gradually like all of us, you are still “my favourite girl” and your voice is better than ever before. After hearing you sing a couple of songs, your voice seemed to me like “good, aged wine”. Additionally, I have realized that you love animals. Consequently, I am sending to you by DHL Courier, a CD that I wrote and recorded about my pet poodle, Koukla, which is considered by many to be the best animal story ever written. She is similar to your pet. I only forward this CD to people who appreciate animals. In appreciation for the contribution that you have made to the world with your music, I extend my sincerest regards. Spyros Peter Goudas P.S. Should you ever be visiting Toronto, Ontario, Canada, please write to me informing me of the date and allow me to be your host for an evening of sincere hospitality at the finest restaurant in the country.

Hi Jeannie!! I've always loved your music and you're one of my favorite "country gals" who graced the country music world in the 60's and 70's... Some of the others I love are Bobbie Gentry, Jeannie C. Riley, Jody Miller, Skeeter Davis, and you of course... Keep up the good work and hope to see you in person one day...

Hi JEANNIE! Just wanted to add a couple of words to your fine website. Have never been fortunate enough to see you in person, but have spun your teriffic tunes all over Texas radio since 1964. Nowadays, I write a web page column where I tell many stories about things I was a part of or witnessed in and around Texas radio, plus recording artists and email from radio-TV people and radio fans. This Friday ( April 1, 2005 ), I'm going to feature a good portion of my web column to JEANIE SEELY. I invite your many fans to check out my weekly column every Friday, plus love to hear your fans' comments. ( http://home.earthlink.net/~rosekkkj/jimroseremembers ) Certainly looking forward to your next visit to Houston. Maybe then, I will finally be able to witness JEANNIE SEELY in person. Jeannie, I just received the note from Ann Allen about your having to say good bye to Shadpoke. I met him once; he was a real little gentleman. I know that you will miss him, but unfortunately, dogs grow old and have "to cross the bridge". I offer my condolences for both the loss of Shadpoke and your brother.

Sorry, I didn't finish the last note. I just wanted to say what a wonderful singer you are. I am 28 years old, and a big fan of yours, as well as Jean Shepard and Jan Howard. I love to listen to you and everyone else on the opry every weekend. I live in Cincinnati, OH and have always wanted to visit the Grand Ole Opry, and I recently purchased tickets for March 26! I sure hope you're performing that night. By the way, how do I go about getting an autographed picture of you, as well as Jean and Jan? Keep up the great work!

Well hello Jeannie and to all her fans! You will never know how truly delighted I am to be signing this outstanding guestbook! I was recommended to this site by a very close pal of mine Anton who loves the old time country music as much as I do. Anton and I have so much in common because we are both youngsters. I am a 20 year old visually impaired guy and I have always loved country music and Jeannie is one of the most sweetest, down to earth people I have ever known in my life and her songs are beautiful. I have always wanted to get in touch with her and would love to hear from other fans out there! I live in Canada but I was born in Sri Lanka on the 16th of September in the year of 1984. I'll tell you it's hard to find other 20 year olds who love the music if Jeannie, Hank Snow, Eddy Arnold, Jim Reeves, Hank Thompson, Bob Wills and so many other great legends! I will really look forward to hearing from any of you and Jeannie, keep up the excellent work. We all love you so much! Yours very sincerely, Maheen.

Hi, Jeannie. I read your updates and it is amazing to me just how human you are. We were visting your neighbors Caolyn & Bob up on the river a couple of years ago on New Years weekend and I think you were doing a gig in Michigan, but we did get to meet Shadpoke, as Carolyn was dog sitting (bless her heart). My wife Jessie, did hold Shadpoke and I got a picture of her just like the one that you have of yourself on your promo photo. I'm sorry that we did not get to meet you, but it felt like we had. Keep up your country tradtion and thanks for your talented contribution to the craft for all these dedicated years. Yours from decades of listening. Sincerely, Dave Bruyn St. Augustine, FL

Hi Jeannie: I don't know what's going on with your website & Jan's, but whatever problem they have, maybe they should do something constructive. As I wrote to Jan last night, maybe they can come to Fla. to help us rebuild or maybe go to Indonisia, Sri Lanka, etc., and do something for us less fortunate.ON A LIGHER SUBJECT: Will miss all of the regulars at the West Palm Beach Fair this year. Always looked forward to seeing all of you. God Bless & thank you for all of the great talent & songs you have given us as a GRAND LADY.Signing my name.

Jeannie, I'm faxing you an excerpt from Faron Young's biography, so I can be sure what I say is accurate. Reading your latest note about not having a passport in Canada reminded me of going to Thailand. I came off a Navy ship and didn't get my passport stamped. When I tried to fly out commercially, the customs agents wouldn't let me go. I had to stay there an extra day and go to the customs office.

Hi Jeannie Several years back when Roy Acuff passed away there were several performers that sang on the Crook and Chase show in a tribute to him. Do you recall the song you sang? I remember it was beautiful but I don't remember the name.
